  • The iPEN project was disseminated by Dr Petridis within TEI of Crete – Department of Electronic Engineering during the internal seminar takes place each Semester. Dr Petridis taught the students for two hours ‘how to write and present their work’. Moreover, this is one of the soft skills modules have been assigned to TEI of Crete along with the iPEN project. This action can also be considered as the 1st attempt to intergrade iPEN outputs into a partners’ course curriculum – please click here.

  • The iPEN project is disseminated through the Israeli National Agency Website, please check here 
  • The iPEN project will be disseminated during the Strategic Partnership Project entitled ‘Critical Skills for Electronic Engineers 2020’ – CRETE, kick-off meeting in the University of Warsaw, Warsaw, Poland (19th of November 2018) – (https://crete2020.chania.teicrete.gr). The two projects share some common objectives e.g. soft skills development and modern teaching methods & deliverable methods and their actions will be tuned by their coordinator Dr Konstantinos Petridis
  • The iPEN project was disseminated among the members of the Stratakis’ Research Group in IESL-FORTH during a seminar that was organized with the title ‘How to write, submit and present your work’. Dr. Petridis gave a seminar talk during this meeting. The seminar took place on Friday the 23rd of November. Special thanks to Dr. K. Britakis and Dr. N. Kostopoulou for the kind invitation 

 

  • The iPEN project was disseminated during the Cluster Event entitled ‘Quality Assurance in international academic Projects and beyond’ on the 26th of November 2018.  The event was organized by the Erasmus Plus Office in Israel and hosted by the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem. Project coordinator Associate Professor Konstantinos Petridis presented the project objectives, outcomes, and more importantly the Q/A actions of the project. The audience consisted from representatives from all the Israeli Universities and Colleges. The European Union Ambassador in Israel has also attended the event.

  • Prof. Ron Blonder will disseminate iPEN project (objectives & outputs) in an event organized by Weizmann Institute for Chemist Teachers. Link to this event can be found here.  Moreover, the iPEN will be disseminated through its logo in t-shirts produced for the participants. The theme of the conference was chemistry & sports – and the dri-fit shirts that the project sponsored were in coherence to the theme. On the front side we printed this periodic table: https://www.euchems.eu/euchems-periodic-table/ that was prepared to the 150 year celebration of the periodic table and was translated to Hebrew for the conference.
    I was a great success! About 300 chemistry teachers participated in the National conference for high school chemistry teachers. They all were exposed to the project and received the T-shirt.Please check the photo below:

  • The iPEN project was disseminated during the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building for Higher Education, ‘Innovative teaching Education in Mathematics’ – iTEM that hosted in Technological Educational Institute of Crete from the 14th and 15th of February 2019. Associate Professor Konstantinos Petridis informed the 30 participants about the iTEM project and its objectives
  • One of the iPEN modules ‘Building Resilience Skills in Science’ was taught by Assistant Professor Konstantinos Petridis during the International Days organized by Thomas More University in Geel, Belgium. The course was followed by more than 100 student and staff participants. The International days in Thomas More took place from 19th to 22nd of March 2019

 

  • One of the iPEN modules ‘How to Read, Write, Submit and Present your Work’ was taught by Assistant Professor Konstantinos Petridis during the 1st Intensive Course of the Erasmus Plus KA2 Strategic Partnership project, ‘Critical Skills for Electronic Engineers of 2020 – CRETE 2020’, that took place from the 1st of April 2019 to the 5th of April 2019, in Aalborg University in Copenhagen, Denmark

  • The iPEN Dissemination material distributed to the participant of the 2nd iPEN School took place in POLIMI from the 13th to the 16th of May 2019

  • More than 100 participant students follow the three days iPEN course in Photonics in POLIMI. Everyone in POLIMI heard about the project’s objectives

  • The iPEN project will be presented on the 21st of May 2019, the iPEN Project in front of 70 participant staff members from all over Europe during the Erasmus Week 2019, hosted by the Hellenic Mediterranean University (ex – TEI of Crete) (20th – 25th of May 2019). Please check the program

  • The iPEN project joins its dissemination actions with the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building Project ACTEA (Applied Curricula in Technology For East Africa). A short summary of the ACTEA can be found here. Both projects will disseminate their outcomes in Israel and East Africa. Apart from the joint dissemination actions, the two project’s coordinators runs a workshop – inter-project coaching- in the frame of the 6th Erasmus Week hosted by the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Crete (from the 9th of May 2019, Hellenic Mediterranean University) how to write and manage a capacity-building project.   • A new publication related to another iPEN module (Optical Characterization of the Solar Cells) has just been published in the open-access journal Energies (MDPI).   • Mrs. Yael Feldman from the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) disseminated the iPEN project through her participation in the well-famous ESERA 2019 conference that took place in Bologna, Italy from the 26th to the 30th of August 2019. Yael presented one of the iPEN modules entitled Online Nanotechnology courses for teachers: learning evaluation and learning patterns. Please check her abstract here

  • Dr. Konstantinos Petridis presented the Erasmus Activities of the Department of Electronics Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University during his visit to the University of Orleans, France. Among the actions, the iPEN project was presented. The visit took place from the 21st and the 22nd of November 2019
  • Dr. Konstantinos Petridis presented the Erasmus Actions of the Department of Electronics Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University during his visit to Karlstad University in Sweden. Among the presented projects was iPEN, The visit took place from the 10th to the 12th of December 2019
  • Dr. Katerina Zourou from W2L presented the iPEN project in China, during her invited visit to Shanghai University of International Studies, December 2019. Her presentation can be found here 
  • Prof. Blonder (WIS) and Mr. Schumueli (MEITAL) will present the iPEN project along with a seminar that will take place on the 9th of January 2020 in MEITAL. Their presentation will have the title: The development of advanced courses in nanotechnology and soft skills and their integration in science and engineering high education: The i-PEN project
  • A new publication by Dr. Petridis and Dr. M. Stylianakis from HMU is under publication in the open-access journal Energies from MDPI – February 2020. The project is disseminated in the scientific community through this research work

  • The iPEN project presented by Dr. Konstantinos Petridis through the book of abstracts regarding the 15th ECRICE International Conference planned to be organized in WIS in Israel (6th of July 2020)
  • The iPEN project will be presented by Dr. Konstantinos Petridis during the 18TH ANNUAL NATIONAL MEITAL CONFERENCE 2020 (IUCC) on Teaching and Learning Technologies Accelerating Higher Education will take place on the 1st of July 2020. One of the sessions of this national conference will be devoted to OPEN LEARNING RESOURCES IN INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS, along which the iPEN project will be presented – his presentation

  • The iPEN module entitled ‘An Introduction to Laser Physics Fundamentals and Applications’ was run for a semester (April – June 2021) in the Department of Engineering in SCE, Israel by Dr. Petridis. The dissemination poster of the course can be found here.

 

  • The HMU International Relations Office Annually Diary 2021 was devoted to the iPEN project and in Study in Israel – Calendar HMU 2021 (1).
  • Professor Ron Blonder, WIS-Israel, presented the iPEN project support on the 5th of October 2021 during the Nano-Israel Conference. Her presentation is Nanolsrael2021_5.10.21.
  • Due to COVID-19 two lockdowns that Europe and Israel have faced from March 2019 to June 2021, it was not possible to organize a face-to-face International Week devoted to the iPEN topics (nanotechnology, photonics, teaching science, and soft skills) and with an objective to internationalized the studies and research in Israel in the aforementioned fields. However the difficulties, the project organized online joint events to disseminate the above objectives. A list of these events can be seen below:
  • Bar Ilan School of Engineering Colloquial Talks in Nanotechnology (April – June 2021): four iPEN researchers & teachers from POLIMI (Italy), HMU (Greece), and IESL-FORTH (Greece) presented their work to our Israeli colleagues.

  4. Professor Nektarios Papadogiannis, HMU, Greece: Femtosecond Laser Secondary Sources: Modern approaches in nano-structured
    material diagnosis & Imaging, 23rd of June 2021.

  • The Hellenic Mediterranean University, the Holon Institute of Technology, and the initiative Study in Israel were inspired by the iPEN actions towards the development of Soft Skills modules & actions organized three cycles of seminars (started in March 2020 – to February 2021) on Soft Skills development. The initiative was called the ‘Soft Skills Academy’.

  • The Hellenic Mediterranean University International Relations Office online seminars have invited Israeli colleagues from the iPEN consortium to present studies and research in their Institutions. More particularly:
    •  On the 23rd of June 2021, Professor Nissim Harel from the HIT was invited to discuss with us the teaching pedagogy for teaching Mathematics followed in HIT, Israel.
    • On the 13th of July 2021, Professor Jakov Tischler from BIU was invited to discuss with our students his research related to 2D materials: Low-Frequency Raman Spectroscopic Methods for Characterizing Nanostructured and Nanoscale Layered Materials.

Exploitation Actions 

  • In TECHNION the School of Engineering has integrated the iPEN course entitled ‘Nanotechnology and Nanosensors’ into Chemical Engineering Department’s curriculum (2.5 Academic Units) (please check it here) and also within the Equality Opportunities Program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • In TECHNION the purchased equipment with the support of the iPEN project has been installed in order to enhance the quality of education that takes place there. More particular:
    • Breath analysis devices: the MultiSense Analyzer handles multi-sensors and their data. These devices are used to demonstrate through the course the applications in real-world conditions and not only the theoretical concept of the Nanosensors. For the students, this closes the gaps between the theory and SEM/TEM images and the real applications of these devices.
    • We have purchased a laptop for the PI who teaches the course.
    • We have purchased two laptops for students who teach the “Nanotechnology and Nanosensors” course. These laptops are strong computers, which enable them to teach with better quality also due to the Covid-19 situation the students are forced to teach remotely so the computers help them in this mission.
  • Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE) they have developed a plan on how to integrate the iPEN modules into their curriculum. More particular:
    •  Shamoon College of Engineering will integrate modules that were developed in the framework of the iPEN project in several different curricula:
      1. The course “Introduction to Nonlinear Optics” will be integrated into an existing master’s degree program in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
      2. The course ‘Introduction to Nonlinear Optics‘ will be one of the elective courses in a specialization track in electro-optics at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ashdod Campus. The course will also be offered to graduate students in the department.
      3. We have recently opened a multi-disciplinary nanotechnology specialization track in the Beer-Sheva campus, involving three departments: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The iPEN project will allow us to expand this specialization track and enlarge the variety of offered courses.
      4. We plan to open a new specialization track in Optoelectronics at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which will include the course “Fundamentals of Optoelectronics” and several other courses that were developed as part of the iPEN project.
      5. The course “Basic Terms in Entrepreneurship” will be offered to all undergraduate students at SCE as an elective course.
  • At Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), they plan to develop based on the iPEN platform micro degrees in Photonics. Moreover, all the modules that have been developed by the HIT (optical engineering, RF & Integrated Photonics, and Nanomaterials and nanodevices) are part of the existed HIT engineering undergraduate curriculum. iPEN has supported the development of new notes and videos to make these modules more updated and more interactive. Since all this material has been developed in English an impact on the further internationalization of the HIT is expected.

  • At HIT the purchased equipment using the iPEN financial support was used during the development of modules have been assigned to HIT and also to support and the enhance the quality of education and research in this Israeli partner. More particular:
    • Optixplorer’s Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) kit.
      Uses 1) lab demonstration D – with lecture 7 in the iPEN course “optical engineering”, 2) Research paper to be published: “machine learning for analysis of beam shaping”
    • Mirrorcle’s MEMS mirror kit.
      Uses 1) lab demonstration A – with lecture 2 in the iPEN course “optical engineering”, 2) Research paper to be published: “Above and under-wavy water wireless optical communication of encrypted data restored by MEMS mirror and deep learning”.
    • Thorlabs’s polarization camera.
      Uses: 1) lab demonstration B – with lecture 4 in the iPEN course “optical engineering”, 2) Research paper to be published: “Photonic device made by mask-less patterning of self-assembled amino-acid-based micro-spherical clusters and nanospheres showing visible Catholuminsecence
    • Ocean-Insight’s HDX spectrometer.
      Uses 1) lab demonstration – with the iPEN course “silicon photonics”, 2) Research paper to be published: “time-varying WGM resonators”.
    • Computers with GPU.
      Uses 1) student teaching “introduction to ZEMAX”– with the iPENcourse “optical engineering”.
    • A computer for controlling items 1-4.
      Uses lab demonstrations A, B, C, D – with lecture 4 in the iPEN course “optical engineering”
  • At Ben Gurion University (BGU) in the Negev, all the equipment that has been purchased with the support of the iPEN project has been installed. The equipment will support the undergraduate and postgraduate studies and also has been used for the teaching of the courses that have been assigned to this iPEN partner:  (a) Laser Spectroscopy and (b) soft & research skills development. More particularly the following equipment has been installed in the BGU:
    • Two laptop computers for teaching and controlling the purchased equipment.
    • A laser device for the lab demonstrations of the spectroscopy course has been developed by the BGU.
    • A solar simulator to support the postgraduate students’ training in BGU (in BGU Solar Center).
  • At Web2Learn (W2L),  a private company that offers digital services mostly to Higher education and vocational education sectors, and is heavily involved in digital content development to cater needs of students, staff, and decision-makers. Within the iPEN project, Web2Learn created three modules (academic writing skills, academic oral skills, open science skills). The materials produced have been peer-reviewed and assessed by iPEN partners and external stakeholders, which is the first step towards exploitation: the quality of materials is a guarantee for re-use by iPEN partners. More than this, the quality recognition of the produced Web2Learn materials raises the standards as it allows our company to promote the achieved results to other clients and partnerships. Thus, we plan to use the iPEN materials in our portfolio of quality materials allowing the services of the company to expand and increase our customer base.
